A BIT ABOUT
THE PROJECT

Inside Red Bull Pole Position at Silverstone is not the kind of access I thought I'd have so soon after picking up a camera

I've never been to a race weekend before. And actually I'd never been a guest at hospitality like this.

Red Bull Pole Position isn't just a good seat with a nice view. It's a full day of entertainment built around the race. Extreme sports demos, live entertainment, energy that didn't drop from the moment the gates opened. If you've only ever watched F1 on the tv, this is a different sport entirely.

Nobody asked me to bring a camera. I brought one anyway, because I knew this was a step up from anything I'd shot before, and I wasn't going to let it pass without capturing it properly.

So that's what this F1 hospitality photography set is really about. Not just the race, but everything built around it. The riders pulling off tricks a few metres from where you're sipping champagne and the track only a few more metres away, a reminder of why everyone's actually there.

It's easy to think hospitality is about comfort. Turns out the best part is how much is happening around you, all day, whether you're watching the track or not. I enjoyed the challenge of capturing the adrenaline.
